Today is the 1st of November 2005.
It is the 37th birthday of Jaakko, our eldest son, who lives in Birmingham, England. Our elder daughter, Susanna, and her family, husband, Chris, and daughter, Asha (8), will be with Jaakko to celebrate the day with him.
To brighten his birthday and also show you the grand festival of lights, I have chosen to use one of his most famous sunset photographs which uses "light", one of Jaakko's most favourite themes.

We had a great time with Jaakko and his friend, Joy, on Monday 31st, the day before Jaakko's birthday.We drove around trying to find somewhere to eat, and ended up (as we always do) at Jaakko's favourite Chinese restaurant in China town. Had a great meal, with Jaakko enjoying his favourite chicken and sweetcorn soup plus his absolute favourite - duck!There was plenty to take home in a doggy-bag too.
We then got Jaakko a little cake, some mango sorbet, strawberries and mango juice. (You guessed right, he loves mangoes!) We went back to Joy's and enjoyed these treats and celebrated Jaakko's birthday a day in advance!
Jaakko enjoyed himself, as we did. He even said it was a 'blessing'. Praise God! Happy birthday, Jaakko!
